MDB’s mission to “do well by doing good” aligns with her dedication to enhancing society’s understanding of science. Julie is particularly keen on crafting clear, elegant communications products on pressing topics related to environmental health and climate change. As an admirer of art, she’s also fascinated by how graphic design and illustration can enhance scientific messaging. That interest stems in part from Julie’s experience interviewing an array of artists who have illustrated North American birds for Audubon magazine, where she once worked as an editor.
