Our team empowers workers to protect themselves, their coworkers, and their communities from environmental and workplace hazards.
For two decades, MDB has worked to strengthen occupational safety and health for federal, nongovernmental, and private stakeholders. Through research, analysis, and careful messaging on topics related to hazardous materials, emergency preparedness, and emergency response, we support organizations that deliver worker-centered health and safety training.
Our team has strong scientific backgrounds and communication expertise in the following areas:

- Substance Use Disorder & the Workplace
- Infectious Diseases
- Environmental Exposure Research
We provide the following services:
Meeting & Webinar Support
MDB supports the planning and facilitation of workshops that address scientific, administrative, and regulatory issues related to training workers who handle hazardous substances. We also excel at helping clients pivot in-person meetings to virtual platforms, ensuring that workers and trainers receive the latest training strategies designed to protect themselves, their families, and communities.Program Evaluation & Technical Analyses
We collect and report information on worker safety and health programs in detailed technical analyses to examine evaluation methods, challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations for improving program evaluation efforts. We publish a fall and spring report covering a biannual meeting of federal and nongovernmental partners on worker protection issues.Strategic Communication
We create and distribute communication materials that convey important health and safety messages to target worker populations, trainers, and the public. Our team researches and produces materials on topics such as exposure to chemicals, hazardous waste, illicit drugs, mold, radiation, and Superfund sites.Training Tools for Worker Safety & Health
We develop training tools that address emerging workplace health topics, including opioids, disasters, and COVID-19. We have designed and facilitated training courses and materials that focus on occupational hazards and stress that can lead to pain and the use of prescription drugs or illicit opioids. We also operate the National Clearinghouse for Worker Safety and Health Training, sharing resources such as hazardous waste worker curricula, technical reports, and weekly news.
